The "No Rules Skirt"
I made this skirt using what I call my "Chop,
Chop, Sew, Sew Method". The top part was made using my skirt block, but
from there, I just said things like, "Oh, about this long...oh, it
really needs a smaller ruffle on bottom." and "Hey, why don't I stick
some squares in sideways for handkerchief points...I'll put one here,
another here,..." and so on!
It was sort of a rebellion thing as it was
the first thing I made after finishing City and Guilds! I needed to do
something that wasn't planned to the nth first! I used £1 a metre sale
fabric, in case it went wrong, but it turned out great!
I thought it might be too bright, but when
I went to the shops to look for a big disk type necklace to go with it,
I found out it was the in colour! So there we are! I am thinking
of making some more! |
